abstract
The study of the processing-structure-properties-performance relationships of Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) doped materials and the paradigm to improve efficiency of these materials is the focus of the diZplay project. This project implements material synthesis in microgravity conditions to suppress convection and buoyancy driven forces during the synthesis of materials. The combination of advanced synthesis techniques and numerical analysis of optimal structures yields high-efficient ZnS materials. Materials such as low attenuation loss glasses, electroluminescent materials, bone replacement materials, advance ceramics, and crystallographic aligned metals are just a few examples where advanced synthesis in low gravity have proved to increase efficiency in these materials. High-efficient ZnS doped materials are a candidate to be implemented into advanced displays.
