detailed description
The Bremen University Hypersonic Tunnel (BHHK) is based on a design which has been developed by Ludwieg. He introduced the principle of an expansion tube in 1955. The high pressure storage is developed as a 24 m long charging tube and is interconnected to a vacuum tank through the fast acting valve, the hypersonic nozzle and the test section.
The following table contains the main technical data:
Test section diameter | 250 mm |
Length of whole facility | 11 m |
Length of charge tube | 24 m |
Charge tube diameter: | |
1. section | 38.14 mm |
2. section | 45.00 mm |
