Flow 3D is a general purpose CFD software package capable of simulating a wide variety of fluid flows in 2 an 3 dimensions with the Volume-of-Fluid advection method. While its specialty is the simulation of free surface flows.

We used FLOW 3D to calculate wide range of free surface flows, for example simulations of reorientation, capillary rise and capillary channel flows.

On the pictures below you can see an example of a supercritical capillary channel flow through the groove, therby the direction of view ist the same as in the experiment.
